Aiden's story
Regulation and angerThe starting point
Aiden's parents came to me after his school flagged concerns about explosive reactions in the classroom. Small frustrations — a wrong answer, losing a game — were leading to big outbursts. He was being labelled as "difficult" and was starting to believe it himself.
What we worked on
Over twelve sessions, Aiden learned to recognise where anger lived in his body before it took over. We built a personal toolkit of regulation strategies that actually worked for him — not generic ones, but ones we discovered together. We also worked on the story he was telling himself about who he was.
“Halfway through, his teacher messaged to say she didn't know what had changed but that Aiden seemed like a different child. He wasn't. He just finally had the tools.”
